The Treasurer tabled a report for the period April to June (attached)

7. CAPTAIN’S REPORT:
Verbal report by Tim Byrne:
• The last month has been a very good one
• The Christmas in July dinner (4 July) went off well – thanks to all helpers especially Jenny and Lyn
• A good practical training session was held on Sunday 5 July
• There were no callouts in the past month

8. TRAINING OFFICER’S REPORT
Verbal report by Charlie O’Connor:
• The training calendar is currently being prepared
• A good training session was held on Sunday 5 July – however there is a need to motivate members to participate
• Mackeral RFB are having exercises one Saturday in early August

Tim Byrne suggested village fire fighting training (ie “hot” training) during the winter months

Discussion was held regarding the need to put people through Advanced and Village courses (for example) as SIRFB members generally only have completed their basic training.

9.2 DOOR KNOCK FOLLOW UP
9.2.1 Discussion was held regarding SIRA’s precinct leaders activity
ACTION: CHARLIE O’CONNOR TO CONVENE A SINGLE MEETING WITH SIRA REPRESENTATIVES AND PRECINCT LEADERS. IF FURTHER MEETINGS ARE REQUIRED SIRA REPS AND.OR PRECINCT LEADERS SHOULD ATTEND THE REGULAR SIRFB MONTHLY MEETING

9.2.2 Tim Byrne advised that the district have sent a table detailing results of the door knock showing properties inspected, properties with absent owners, and property status

9.2.2.1 SIRFB FOLLOW UP ON HOUSES WHERE RESIDENTS WERE ABSENT ON INSPECTION DAY
9.2.2.2 TIM BYRNE SEND INFORMATION TO PEOPLE WHO REQUESTED COPIES OF THEIR REPORTS
9.2.2.3 TIM BYRNE DRAFT LETTER TO ALL BRIGADES WHO ATTENDED INSPECTION DAY

10.1 BOAT SECURITY AND SAFETY
Concern was expressed re children on the school ferry who disembark at Tennis to change to the Bays ferry climbing on the boat and ladder. It was noted as a safety and security issue.

10.2 SERVICE AWARDS
Recommendations for National Medal Service Awards have been made for Bruce Healey, Don Dwyer and Bev Dwyer
ACTION: KERRY BORTHWICK TO SEND TO DISTRICT OFFICE

10.3 KITCHEN CUPBOARDS
Tim Byrne requested assistance on Friday 10 July to dismantle kitchen and transport to fireshed.

Tim Byrne advised he had spoken to Brian Franki about assistance with cutting granite.
ACTION: TIM BYRNE AND OTHERS TO DISMANTLE KITCHEN AND TRANSPORT TO FIRESHED

10.4 DINNERS
Agreed that children’s tickets should be available for children under 12 years. For example if Adult price is $15 then Under 12 price would be $10.

Due to other conflicting activities it was decided that the August dinner would be postponed to the second Saturday of the month, ie August 8. It was noted that a cook had yet to be arranged.

10.4.2 LYN SAVAGE TO INCLUDE IN THE ADVERTISING KIDS PRICES AND THE PRESENCE OF THE KIDS ROOM WITH DVD

10.5 FIREMAN’S BALL/ISLAND H’ARTS STUDIO WEEKEND
Jenny Winterton advised that Andrew Oh’s band was available on 19 September. It was noted that this was also the weekend of the Island H’Arts Studio Walk weekend and which would attract mainlanders as well as locals.

Tim Byrne mentioned that Claire Atkins had asked whether the fireshed might be available during the day as a performance art space

Two return tickets to Borneo have been offered as a raffle prize with the possibility of accommodation being discussed.

Agreed:
• SIRFB to hold a “Not the Fireman’s Ball” on the evening of Saturday 19 September accompanied by music from Andrew Oh’s band
• SIRFB to provide food, eg barbeque, coffee and muffins as well as coffee etc. during both days (say between 12pm and 4pm)
• Two kegs to be purchased for the Not The Fireman’s Ball
• SIRFB to hold a monster raffle to be drawn at the Not The Fireman’s Ball. Ticket sales to commence early and include selling at August dinner, The Point and during the Saturday of the Island H’Arts Studio Walk

Lewis Sparks died on Saturday 4 July. It was agreed to send condolences and flowers to his widow, Fabia

10.7 ORDINARY VEHICLE REGISTRATION INSPECTIONS
The annual inspections will take place at the fireshed on Saturday 18 July. Graeme Richmond, Kerry Borthwick and Tim Byrne offered to help out.
