SIRFB COMMITTEE MEETING 1 MARCH 2010
In the absence of the Secretary the Minutes were taken by SIRFB President

Present:
Apologies:
David Wardman, Jenny Winterton, Robert Leeson, Bob Bolton, Kerry Borthwick.
Previous minutes accepted.
Business Arising from previous minutes:
Paul Kinnison spoke regarding brigades proposal for a concrete ramp at Cargo Wharf. He stated his objection to it and that a large number of Islanders in the past had been opposed to it. His opposition to it was noted and he left the meeting at 2000 hours without participating in any other business.
Correspondence in: None.
Correspondence out: Emails regarding ramp.
Reports:
Regarding recent exercise involving the water borne boat brigades. Participation in these exercises
is always worthwhile.
General Business:
1. Community First Responder Course: Ten people have been
asked: including Mandy Daher, Graeme Richmond, Simon
Lambe, Jonothan Swain, Linda Prisk, Fiona Deegan.
2. Crews: New crew rosters will be set up after AGM – some
training fortnightly.
3. Training: General discussion then followed regarding
training.
3.1 Tim discussed ideas about mainlanders becoming
members of SIRFS. Could fares be reimbursed by HQ?
It was suggested by GL that using the fire boat to
pick up and return any mainland members would be
beneficial to the boat crews involved. That is it would
be valuable boat training.
General discussion on this topic.
3.2 Recruitment: Information sessions for recruitment
was suggested by captain around April/May.
Special Meeting: Captain requested special meeting for
this Thursday regarding office holders.
3.3 Special events including fund raising should be
talked about at the next committee meeting.
3.4 Next training session: Graeme Richmond – is next
Sunday (Easter Sunday) a training day? General
discussion followed.
3.5 Thanks: Captain made thank you's for all involved
in the officers involved through the year.
3.6 Don Dwyer: Captain announces that Don Dwyer will
not be standing for any position next year.
